Shipper I - 1st Shift

SUMMARY Performs various material movement duties including: basic operation of computer systems, categorizing freight and other similar duties to ship company’s products and materials. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Works from computer systems procedures, purchase orders, written and/or verbal instructions, established shipping procedures, methods, and practices. Counts, weighs, and checks outgoing shipments; reports shortages, damage or obvious defects to supervisor. Packages, straps, weighs, and labels shipments. Load trucks or containers (floor load or forklift) based on preferred method to be determined by management. Operates internal computer system to determine status of products and track products. Maintains records as instructed. Detects and reports improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials and questionable conditions to proper supervision. Maintains work area(s) and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe condition. Maintains daily production and other records as required. Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job. Performs additional duties as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Minimum of 1-2 years experience in shipping. Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions. Must be certified to drive forklifts or pass certification exam during initial trial period. Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels. Must have the ability to complete assignments within the timeframe specified by the Manager. Must be flexible regarding working hours and overtime. Must be able to work overtime on evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice. Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be constantly required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers). While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
