JOB SUMMARY:
Works in coordination with the Occupational Therapist, other rehab members, physicians and staff in providing appropriate therapy and treatment to persons evaluated as needing occupational therapy services. He/She will provide a wide range of services from assessment through therapy as well as necessary follow-up services under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist and within the scope of his/her licensure. Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. Ensures that patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Current Iowa Occupational Therapy Assistant licensure, graduate of an approved school for Occupational Therapy Assistant training.
- Previous experience in the provision of occupational therapy in an acute or long term care setting preferred.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Code BLS required. New employees certify within three (3) months after hire date.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Strong written and verbal skills.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Knowledge of physical medicine, occupational therapy modalities, anatomy and physiology.
- Knowledge of occupational therapy equipment operation, maintenance and repairs of same.
