What are the responsibilities and job description for the HIM TEAM LEADER position at Pella Regional Health?
Under the direction of the Director of Revenue Cycle, provides leadership and guidance to the Health Information Management Department. Performs data quality reviews and prepares reports as requested. Manages a daily workload, collaborates with Revenue Integrity, schedules meetings, and provides coverage support. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
Associate or bachelor’s Degree, preferred.
RHIT, RHIA, or equivalent coding certification, preferred
One or more years of health information or release of information experience; preferred
Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding in a clinic and/or hospital setting.
Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Strong computer knowledge with ability to learn specific coding and office systems.
Data entry, abstracting, indexing, data collection and statistical-gathering skills.
Professional knowledge of various aspects of patient care, human anatomy and physiology and medical terminology.
Knowledge of APGs, DRGs and reimbursement mandates.
Must demonstrate a strong work ethic and responsibility.
Must demonstrate ability to multi-task and handle a busy workload.
Must be willing to take initiative and complete duties other than those specifically assigned in order to meet the needs of the department.
