What are the responsibilities and job description for the Home Health Aide- Full time position at Pella Regional Health?
SCHEDULE: Fulltime
JOB SUMMARY:
Provides direct and indirect patient/resident care activities under the direction of Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Practical Nurse. Assists patient/residents with ADLS, provides for personal care, comfort and assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment for patient/residents.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Must demonstrate competence prior to assignment of home care aide services. Certification as a nurses’ aide will demonstrate competence. Must have proof of completion of an approved Aide Training Course
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Code BLS required. New employees certify within three (3) months after hire date.
- Must possess a valid Iowa driver’s license and meet satisfactory motor vehicle record requirements, if applicable.
- Must maintain and provide proof of his/her own auto insurance policy, if applicable.
- Two years of prior experience in health care desired.
- Competency testing and evaluation will be required prior to assignment of Comfort House aide services.
- Must complete 12 hours of OBRA training hours per year.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Strong written and verbal skills.
- Knowledge of and acceptance of the Hospice Philosophy of Care.
- Interpersonal skills sufficient for effective patient, family and staff interaction.
