What are the responsibilities and job description for the PATIENT ACCESS SUPERVISOR position at Pella Regional Health?
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Patient Access Manager, provides leadership, support and guidance to the Patient Access Team. Patient Access consists of Pre-Services and Registration. The supervisor is responsible for managing staff schedules to ensure coverage in multiple intake areas, auditing registration data for accuracy and correcting errors as applicable. Provides feedback to staff on the accuracy of their work and works with all hospital departments to streamline registrations. Assists with pre-authorization and estimates for patients. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in health information or healthcare related field required
- 2 years of pre-authorization, registration, billing, or HIM experience preferred
- Experience with 3 party insurance companies
- Billing or Coding Certification preferred
- Experience with Meditech, 3M or other EMR systems and encoder with knowledge of CPT coding
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.Strong computer knowledge with ability to learn specific coding system and insurance portals
- Data entry, abstracting, indexing, data collection and statistical-gathering skills.
