What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Bookkeeper position at PELLCO Construction?
Our company is looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join our team! We are a local family-run construction company located in Mukilteo, Washington. The Bookkeeper is responsible for the financial and accounting functions of the company and affiliated entities controlled by ownership. The ideal candidate has excellent communication and multitasking skills, a cheerful outlook, and a strong work ethic.
Necessary Skills and Responsibilities:
- Timely and accurate preparation accounts receivable progress billings based on Project Manager’s Pay Applications, upon specific contract terms.
- Review accounts receivable, aging reports and assist with direct reports for collections.
- Enter and process Accounts Payables to vendors and subcontractors. Supervise the payment process to vendors and subcontractors and confirm lien waivers are properly collected.
- Quarterly city, state, and federal taxes.
- Monitor daily cash balances to ensure requirements are met.
- Manage IT related issues to accounting controls for other office staff.
- Perform special assignments as directed by the Ownership.
Financial Reporting Responsibilities:
- Manage banking deposits. Process bank and credit card reconciliations, monthly.
- Preparation and review of the company’s monthly financial statements and affiliated entities.
- Review financial statements with ownership.
- Create budgets with ownership and manage budgets to ensure fiscal health and responsibility.
- Preparation of construction contract schedules with accounting software.
- Oversee the monthly job cost report process with the Owners and Project Managers for use in creating and updating contract schedules and updated work in progress reports (WIP) for internal and external use.
Other Qualifications:
- 8-10 years of general accounting experience.
- 5-7 years of construction accounting experience (preferred)
- Experience with Computer Ease is a plus.
- Proficient in Excel and Word.
- Heavy Job/HCSS experience preferred.
Benefits and Compensation:
- $80,000-$100,000 depending on experience.
- 32 hours a week – in office hours.
- Tuesday-Friday, 8am-4pm
- Full medical, dental and vision after 90 days at no cost to employees, including dependents.
- Two weeks of PTO.
- Paid holidays, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas day, and New Years Day.
