What are the responsibilities and job description for the Produce Manager position at Pellicano's Marketplace?
Produce Department Managers are to oversee the selection, pricing, promotion, and stocking of produce to meet department objectives for sales, margin, turns, labor and customer service. To ensure a clean, growing and well-maintained produce department with exceptional quality.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Purchasing
1. Negotiate with suppliers for favorable prices, terms, quality, and delivery.
2. Work with local growers to plan requirements for upcoming season.
3. Review invoices for accuracy, price changes, and product additions.
4. Price product to achieve margin and sales goals while maintaining a competitive image.
Planning
1. Set sales, margins and inventory turn goals for departments. Review weekly, monthly and quarterly reports and plan corrective action as needed.
2. Meet with general manager, merchandising manager and marketing manager quarterly to develop promotional plans.
3. Participate in planning changes in store layout for merchandising and ease of shopping.
Merchandising
1. Plan and build produce displays. Ensure seasonal changes and feeling of abundance.
2. Ensure appropriate signage at all times.
Department Maintenance
1. Maintain and enforce safe working conditions.
2. Ensure that department is clean, orderly and meets health department standards.
