The starting salary for this role is $84,489-$95,049 per year.

About the role: The Mortgage Operations Manager proactively leads the Mortgage Processing, Underwriting, Closing/Post-Closing Teams and functions as a key contributor in workflow management, new initiatives, process development and culture building of Residential Mortgage Team. Cohesively developing a team that is capable of effectively managing the mortgage pipeline workflow while ensuring regulatory compliance at all phases of the loan process. Working knowledge of loan product guidelines, policies and procedures for delivery to a suite of investors, including PACU, Select Correspondent Aggregators, FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA and USDA. This position will collaborate with Mortgage Sales Manager and Mortgage Servicing Manager to develop cohesiveness and consistency throughout the mortgage workflow for the benefit of our members as we grow market share.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead the day-to-day operations of mortgage lending, ensuring that all originated loans are processed efficiently, accurately and in compliance with applicable regulations. Ensure that all loans adhere to company/secondary market policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines. Provides oversite to facilitate the on time closing of mortgage loans commitments per the member’s sales contract and/or lock expiration.
• Reviews and develops workflow, process, and procedures reference tools for the Sales and Operations staff to include investor updates and various system enhancements/updates as they are released.
• Manages employee performance – goal setting, aids in the development of staff career paths including but not limited to suggesting appropriate career development / education courses, coaches employees for career success and performance improvement as needed.
• Provide recommendations to management, based on research data, regarding department efficiencies, product enhancements and market strategies that meet the Credit Union’s mission and values.
• Audits all loan application files to verify that application data is complete, reviews underwriter decisions for deficiency/ trends/excessive underwriting conditions of standard GSE/Investor guideline and meets Credit Union/Secondary Market standards. Proactively works to determine if a team member needs help and/or additional training to obtain minimal Underwriting decision conditions, which leads to member service. Works with the internal and external audit teams to address audit findings and training as needed.
• Manages member complaint/grievance response activity as assigned by VP of Mortgage.
• Serve as administrator for the Mortgage LOS and other vendors.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience: Five plus years of mortgage experience in a leading role, including Processing, Underwriting, Closing, and/ or post-closing. Preferred experience in Mortgage Loan Origination, Risk Mitigation, Compliance and QC. Prior management and/or team lead experience preferred.
• Education/Certifications/Licenses: (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
• Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating, influencing or training others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others. A genuine desire to professionally develop your team every day.
• Other Skills: Strong supervisory abilities, proficiency in PC (technology), compliance expertise, leadership, excellent written and verbal communication skills.
