Job Overview
A Veterans Disability Attorney is a legal professional who specializes in representing veterans who have been denied benefits. Supervisory Responsibilities A Veterans Disability Attorney may supervise junior attorneys, manage their legal support staff, and oversee investigators or other members of the legal team.
Primary Responsibilities
- Consult with clients to discuss their disability claims and assess the strength of their claims.
- Gather evidence, including medical records, buddy statements, and other evidence to support the client’s claim for benefits.
- File appeals with the VA when a client’s claim for benefits has been denied or the amount awarded is inadequate.
- Represent clients at administrative hearings.
- Provide legal advice and guidance to clients throughout the legal process and answer any questions they may have.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and ethical standards related to veterans disability law. Required Skills/Abilities
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Strong understanding of administrative law and legal procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of legal industry and market trends.
- Ability to handle confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Experience and Professional Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensed attorney.
- Relevant legal work experience.
