Dependable, competent Shelter Worker needed for our 17- bed single women's shelter in Center Moriches to work Saturdays and Sundays 4pm-Midnight. Our shelters operate 24/7/365. Please note that before employment can start, clearance must be obtained through the Dept. of Social Services; background check, CPS history, State Central Registry.
The Shelter worker is responsible for monitoring the activities of residents of the shelter/center and to ensure compliance with program rules and expectations. He/she is also responsible for ensuring the safety of residents and the security and sanitation of the program. Job requires lifting up to 30 lbs. frequently, and experience with handling minor maintenance issues, such as changing filters, light bulbs, cleaning and organizing of pantry and storage areas, and other household-type chores as needed.
Experience in a related field is not necessary but is helpful.
Summary
As a Women's Homeless Shelter Worker, you will be vital in providing support and assistance to women experiencing homelessness.
