Dispatchers are responsible for the transmission of radio and telephone messages and requests for law enforcement, emergency medical and fire services. They shall dispatch public safety units and monitor their activity, providing support as required. Dispatchers handle highly stressful emergency requests; calmly, negotiate, and control callers to gather essential information to communicate to responders. They coordinate inter-office telephone traffic and other correspondence. Dispatchers act as a direct representatives of the Sheriff when dispatching Sheriff’s Office law enforcement personnel.
The Communications Officer plays a critical role in ensuring effective communication within the organization and with external stakeholders. This position is responsible for managing incoming communications, providing essential information to law enforcement personnel, and maintaining accurate records. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to public safety.
Duties
- Manage and respond to incoming calls and communications with professionalism and courtesy.
- Utilize GPS technology to assist in tracking and coordinating law enforcement activities.
- Analyze information received from various sources to provide accurate reports and updates.
- Transcribe communications accurately for record-keeping and reporting purposes.
- Maintain knowledge of medical terminology to effectively communicate with emergency services.
- Provide first aid assistance as needed, ensuring the safety of all individuals involved.
- Demonstrate proficient phone etiquette while interacting with the public and law enforcement officials.
- Collaborate with team members to enhance communication strategies and protocols.
