Full Wage Range: $3,739.63 - $4,715.12 per month
Hiring Range: $3,739.63 - $3,956.55 per month DOQ

Job Overview:
This position involves significant coordination with Solid Waste employees, the public, commercial haulers, and other County employees. Key responsibilities include managing recycling, household hazardous waste activities, and refuse collection at County Solid Waste Transfer Stations. The role also supports the "adopt a county road" program and handles litter collection on County lands and public right-of-ways. Additionally, this position is responsible for emergency response and support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance duties and upkeep of the Transfer Stations.
- Operate equipment such as forklifts, backhoes, and roll-off trucks.
- Manage waste flow and operations at Transfer Stations, assist public with recycling and hazardous waste disposal.
- Process and transport household hazardous waste and recyclables.
- Perform water sampling at closed landfill sites.
- Operate scales, track waste volumes, and handle cash transactions.
- Coordinate recycling efforts for County offices.
- Ensure proper handling of hazardous materials and adherence to safety procedures.
- Respond to public inquiries professionally and provide accurate information.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Class “A” CDL driver's license, CPR, and First Aid certification.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Must obtain refrigerant recovery certification and HAZWOPER certification within 6 months of hire.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions, lift heavy objects, and perform manual labor.
- Mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance and use of tools.
- Familiarity with MSDS sheets, record-keeping, and basic computer skills.
- Ability to work independently, plan work, and maintain a safe work environment.
- Ability to operate various machinery, including a horizontal cardboard baler and forklift.
- Pass background and driving record checks.
Working Environment/Physical Abilities:
- Outdoor work in varying conditions (noise, weather, chemicals).
- Requires heavy lifting, climbing, and manual labor.
- Must demonstrate good communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Regular attendance required with no telecommuting options.
