The HVAC Technician work includes skilled manual and technical work at an experienced level. An employee in this class with general, and administrative supervision from assigned supervisor, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems.

- Performs complex work involving troubleshooting, investigation, and repair of HVAC equipment and controls
- Performs preventive maintenance of HVAC equipment.
- Disassembles, replaces, and adjusts defective equipment.
- Properly recharges air-conditioning systems.
- Orders HVAC parts.
- Diagnoses electrical, mechanical, and electronic defects.
- Makes emergency repairs to equipment.
- Reads wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
- May need to work overtime and respond to emergency calls inclement weather or other emergencies.

Graduation from high school or GED supplemented by college/vocational level courses in heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning and five years of Commercial HVAC experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
Possession of CFC/EPA Certification. Issued by North Carolina
Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, squat, climb, and use arm and hand movements.
- Ability to carry tools and handle materials and equipment of 80 to 100 pounds.
- Ability to work at heights on arial lifts, scaffolding, stepladders and/or extension ladders.
- Ability to crawl in, under, over, or through equipment.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Ability to work alone or with others.
Salary : $51,444 - $63,984
