Performs intermediate semiskilled work spraying areas to eradicate mosquitoes and other insects, maintaining equipment, maintaining records and files, preparing reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Mosquito Control & Special Projects Crew Leader and Maintenance Supervisor. Assist with other duties as needed or assigned.

- Tracks mosquito populations; counts mosquitoes at various locations.
- Identifies mosquitoes; sets mosquito traps.
- Checks standing water areas for mosquito larvae.
- Operates fogging equipment on designated routes.
- Mixes and stores chemicals according to specifications.
- Performs maintenance on equipment; ensures proper calibration of equipment.
- Keeps records of activities.
- Performs the duties of a Maintenance Technician during the off-season.
General knowledge of the safe methods to chemically eradicate insects; general knowledge of the use of chemical pesticides; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; ability to operate vehicles safety in residential neighborhoods; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
High school diploma or GED and moderate experience in pest control, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Possession of or ability to obtain pesticide applicator's license within one year of employment.
Valid driver's license in the State of North Carolina.
This position is a safety sensitive position and subject to random substance abuse testing in accordance with the Pender County Personnel Policy and Risk Policy.
