What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wastewater Maintenance tech position at Pender County Government?
Performs skilled intermediate technical and mechanical work, maintenance, and repair of the water treatment and disposal systems; maintaining records and reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Wasterwater Superintendent.
Qualification Requirements

High school diploma or GED required. Moderate experience in water and wastewater treatment and in the construction, maintenance, and repair of public infrastructure preferred.
Special Requirements
Must obtain North Carolina Maintenance Technician 1 certification within 12-months of employment. Additional NC water and/or wastewater certifications are a plus.
Valid driver's license in the State of North Carolina.
This position is a safety sensitive position and subject to random substance abuse testing in accordance with the Pender County Personnel Policy and Risk Policy.

- Participates in repair and maintenance at the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
- Enforces OSHA and division safety procedures and practices.
- May participate in the design, review, approval, inspection, and acceptance of County utility infrastructure.
- Orders and maintains sufficient inventory of repair parts, equipment, and supplies for system operations and maintenance.
- Responsible for grounds-keeping and assisting plant staff in housekeeping.
- Performs routine preventative and predictive maintenance.
- Other duties as assigned.
