General Definition of Work
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the first point of contact at the front desk for all who are entering the Human Resources department.

Essential Functions
- Answer the phone, making appointments.
- Develops, establishes, and maintains office filing, and record systems and oversees maintenance of the same.
- Operates a variety of office and computer equipment, maintains inventory of and orders departmental supplies.
- Acts as receptionist and / or customer service representative; greets visitors, answers telephone, provides information, forwards calls to appropriate parties; assists the public with completion of standardized records or documents, directs visitors to appropriate party.
- Enters a variety of data into computer systems.
- Handles inquiries or complaints from the general public in person or by telephone; forwards calls to appropriate party.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education & Experience
Significant knowledge of office methods and practices. Knowledge of and ability to use correct grammar, vocabulary, spelling and office terminology to compose correspondence. Knowledge of HIPAA and medical terminology is a plus. Ability to learn to use web-based program and input data. Proficient in MS Office. Ability to work with people with courtesy and tact in performing public contact duties that may be sensitive in nature. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills and abilities gained through at least two years of office assistant / secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Valid driver's license in the State of North Carolina.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and reaching with hands and arms, frequently requires standing and occasionally requires walking, sitting, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
