WORK WEEK SCHEDULE Monday - Friday
WORK HOURS 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM MONTHS/YR 12
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to communicate well with school personnel and other school system staff
- Demonstrate functional knowledge of computers
- Comply with confidentiality requirements and ethical guidelines for local, federal and state laws, policies and statutes
- Ability to coordinate, plan, and meet deadlines, accomplish specific tasks and meet specific standards
- Ability to work under pressure, to meet deadlines and to work independently.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in accounting, finance or business preferred
- Associate degree with concentration in accounting, finance or business required
- Two or more years of work experience involving finance operation in a business or school system
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow all rules, policies and procedures of Pender County Schools, along with state and federal regulations
- The Internal Auditor has the authority to initiate and review any individual school financial functions or activity under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer. All reports should be submitted to the CFO
- Develop, implement, and administer a broad and comprehensive internal auditing program to ensure that the fiscal management of the individual schools is effective and efficient
- Ensure that adequate controls exist and are being applied
- Ensure that applicable laws, regulations, and policies are being adhered to consistently with the individual schools
- Work with Child Nutrition Department for the smooth transfer of data from Meals Plus to General Ledger
- Monthly review of school financial reports, phone support for School Treasurers regarding school accounting systems and provide assistance in training School Treasurers
- Input vendors for School Treasurers
- Provide support with vendor file maintenance for ISIS software
- Research budget and General Ledger issues as needed with emphasis on Child Nutrition
- Assist CFO and Assistant Finance Officer in monitoring budgets, expenses and allotments
- Reconciles various financial reports with emphasis on Child Nutrition
- Acts as backup to Assistant Finance Officer, and any other finance office personnel as needed
- Other duties as assigned by the CFO
