PenFed is hiring a (Hybrid) Director, Deposits Pricing at our Tysons, Virginia location.  The primary purpose of this job is to develop and execute pricing strategies that align with the credit union’s mission, member needs, and financial objectives. This role involves analyzing market trends, competitive positioning, and member behavior to ensure deposit products—such as savings accounts, money markets, share certificates (CDs), and checking accounts—are priced effectively to optimize deposit growth, liquidity, and profitability. The Director will collaborate with internal stakeholders, including finance, treasury, and marketing teams, to create data-driven pricing strategies that support sustainable member value.

 


Responsibilities

  • Lead deposit pricing strategies that balance business objectives, member value, competitive positioning, and the credit union’s financial sustainability.
  • Drive pricing decisions that align with the credit union’s member-first philosophy, driving loyalty and engagement.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to define and develop pricing strategies based on member segments and develop campaigns, and communication strategies for deposit products.

     

  • Monitor industry trends, competitor rates, and economic factors to provide data-driven recommendations on pricing adjustments.

  • Guide and direct analysts to leverage analytics to build financial models to develop monthly and annual forecast and assess the impact of pricing decisions on deposit balances, margins, and profitability.

  • Partner with marketing, finance, treasury, and other teams to forecast deposit growth, retention trends, and pricing elasticity.

  • Develop strategy to refine and define product structures and benefits to enhance deposit offerings based on market research and member needs.

  • Ensure all pricing strategies comply with credit union regulations, including NCUA guidelines and ALM policies.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop business analysts, reporting analysts and support staff, fostering a culture of team, collaboration, innovation, and excellence.

Qualifications

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field (Master’s/MBA preferred).
  • Minimum 12 years’ experience in deposit pricing, product management, treasury, or financial strategy within banking or financial services.
  • Minimum 4 years of people leadership experience in building, managing, and developing high performing teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with expertise in financial modeling, data analytics, and forecasting.
  • Experience with pricing tools, market intelligence platforms, and core banking systems.
  • Experience working and leading teams with data mining skillsets such as SQL, Python, R, Tableau
  • In-depth understanding of regulations, operations, interest rate risk management, and liquidity strategies.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work in a member-focused, collaborative, and mission-driven environment.
  • Experience with pricing optimization tools and fintech solutions.
  • Knowledge of NCUA regulations, ALM strategies, and financial principles.
  • Familiarity with behavioral economics and member segmentation techniques.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will supervise employees.

There are no additional certifications required.

 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.

*Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds.*

 

Travel

Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call may is required.
