Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner CRNP-PMH

The ideal candidate we are looking for is someone who has experience working in an outpatient mental health setting as a licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and the provider will be responsible for the care and administrative needs of mental health patients in an private practice or outpatient treatment setting. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner must be able to treat patients with mental illness. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will work independently but will have support and oversight by Psychiatrist and other clinicans at Penfield Psychiatry. They will provide direct care to our clients in this setting, including evaluation, medication assessment, consultations and crisis evaluation. The will collaborate with our experienced team of advance practice providers and therapy team to determine course of treatment.

Preferred Experience: At least 2 years experience working full time as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and treating patients with psychiatric disorders.

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner may perform the following duties:

1. Conduct initial psychiatric evaluations, including initial assessment interviews, history and physical exams; lab, imaging, medication and psychotherapy consultation orders, aftercare plans and follow up visits. Following the initial evaluation, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will provide appropriate follow up care including reassessments of diagnoses and conditions, medication adjustments, and any further tests or consults indicated.

2. Provide mental health education /counseling and brief therapy of patients and their families.

3. Primary responsibility for care of patients and cross cover other colleagues.

4. Conduct ongoing follow up appointments for stable patients, including regular refills of medications, required lab and other tests and documenting progress.

5. Perform examinations and screening scales (such as AIMS, MoCA, HAM-D) and similar non-invasive examinations specific to the ongoing care of psychiatric patients

6. Ordering appropriate laboratory tests, imaging studies, EKGs (electrocardiograms), and similar noninvasive tests

7. Initiating and expediting consultation requests and scheduling special tests and studies

8. Providing education and counseling of the patient and the patient's family in preventive care, medical conditions, and the use of prescribed treatments and medications

9. Performing preventive health screen activities (remote patient monitoring, period mental health screening questionares)

10. Recording notes on all procedures performed for which the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible

11. Conducting educational groups

12. Perform treatment planning in an outpatient setting.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the treatment of children and adolescents as well. We want our providers to be independent/self learners, but humble enough to accept they may not know what they do not know. Our approach within our organization is collegial and collaborative. We offer credentialing for insurances; preference will also be given to already credentialed clinicians or those with completed their CAQH application, PECOS and e-PREP. We offer varying levels of compensation models and medical benefits based upon your desired hours to work and your needs.
