Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Inventory Manager to contribute to our continued success. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in inventory management, expertise in implementing warehouse and inventory management systems, and a strong understanding of the order fulfillment process. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate inventory levels, efficient warehouse operations, and seamless order fulfillment.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management
- Develop, implement, and maintain effective inventory control policies and procedures
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability and minimize overstock or stockouts
- Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies promptly
- Analyze inventory data to identify trends, forecast demand, and make recommendations for inventory adjustments
Procurement Coordination
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely replenishment of materials
- Negotiate with vendors for best pricing, delivery timelines, and payment terms
- Manage purchase orders, receipts, and vendor performance evaluations
Warehouse Operations
- Lead the implementation and optimization of warehouse management systems (WMS)
- Establish and enforce best practices for warehouse layout, storage, and inventory handling
- Ensure the safe and efficient storage of building materials, taking into account their specific requirements such as weight, size and fragility
- Collaborate with warehouse staff to improve productivity and maintain a clean and organized facility
- Optimize warehouse space utilization and implement efficient stock rotation strategies (FIFO or LIFO)
Logistics and Distribution
- Coordinate with the sales and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of materials to customers or job sites
- Oversee the tracking of incoming and outgoing shipments to prevent delays
Reporting and Analytics
- Generate regular inventory reports, including stock levels, turnover rates, and forecasts
- Analyze inventory performance metrics to identify trends, improve efficiency, and reduce costs
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations in the storage and handling of materials
- Maintain compliance with company policies and local regulations related to inventory and warehouse operations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience in inventory management, preferably in the building materials or construction industry
- Strong knowledge of inventory management software and warehouse operations
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication, collaboration and leadership abilities
- Familiarity with industry-specific materials and their storage requirements is a plus
- Detail-oriented and able to work independently but also able to work well within a team
