Job Description

Peninsula Eye Center is the eastern shore’s premiere medical and surgical eye center. We have a team of board-certified ophthalmologists and optometrists on staff that can diagnose and treat a wide range of eye related medical conditions. We are seeking a dedicated Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Peninsula Eye Center. The Ophthalmic Technician assists the physician in providing quality care throughout the patient visit. They use their knowledge of eye health, diagnostic testing and eye conditions to guide patients through their visit.

Ophthalmic Technician Responsibilities:

  • Effectively communicates with patients and staff to facilitate a seamless coordination of care
  • Work as part of the clinical team to assess the patient in preparation for the provider exam
  • Maintain accurate and up to date patient records
  • Perform specialized testing as needed

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing demands.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of healthcare professionals.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to patient safety and quality care.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment or materials (up to 30 lbs).
