Responsibilities for the Machine Shop Lead
•Manage the safety and efficiency of Manual and CNC Machinists in a heavy industrial shop environment.
•Oversee all machine shop process including but not limiting to Turning, Milling, Drilling, Reaming, Boring, Slotting, and some non-structural welding.
•Ensure all safety procedures are followed, and the proper PPE is in place.
•Instruct machinists on rigging, moving, setup, procedures, and processes.
•Monitor quantity, condition, and supply shop tooling.
•Verify dimensional accuracy of critical features.
•Train and supervise Manual and CNC Machinists.
•Troubleshoot and resolve CNC programming issues.
•Manage and maintain machine shop production schedule. Ensuring timely completion of projects while maximizing machine utilization.
•Evaluate and review employee performance.
•Must be willing and able to run machines when needed.
Qualifications for Machine Shop Lead
•Must have good attitude, attendance, and be able to promote a positive culture that is focused on safety and efficiency.
•Must have an extensive knowledge of rigging and the use of overhead cranes and forklifts.
•Deep knowledge of all machining processes and use of manual as well as CNC machinery.
•Minimum of 15 years combined experience as a Machinist/Machinist Manager.
•Expert understanding of blueprints, manufacturing processes, and GD&T.
•Expert understanding of metrology and use of inspection tools.
•Available to work weekends and overtime.
•Capable of standing for extended periods of time.
