Position Description
If you love kids, and the challenge of driving a larger bus on the road every day excites you, the Peninsula School District is eager to hire you as a school bus driver! As a bus driver, you become an important and steady person in these young children's lives. Each day gives you the opportunity to get a child's day started off right and remind them that they are special and important. Having the ability to make the students feel comfortable is just as important as knowing how to drive the bus.
This position safely operates school buses under all types of weather conditions, including, but not limited to fog, rain, sleet, snow, and ice. Responsibilities include transporting students and other authorized persons over regular "to and from school" routes, and on-field, co-curricular, and special or extra activity trips as authorized by District officials.
A typical bus driver usually works early in the morning then late in the afternoon with a long break in-between. There is also the option of driving to and from field trips or other school activities to gain additional work hours. As a public entity, Peninsula School District offers competitive retirement, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits to employees in eligible positions (630 hours per year).

TRAINING DETAILS
- Includes 3-6 weeks of Paid Training to obtain CDL with School Bus Endorsement
- Driver's Abstract, Fingerprint Background Check, Drug & Alcohol Testing, First Aid/CPR Certificate, DOT physical, and CDL test will be paid for and provided by Peninsula School District
- Training payrate while in class is $16.28
- Licensed Driver for at Least 5 Years
- Ability to pass agility test at interview

- CDL Practice Test

- Will you submit to a criminal history background check?
- Do you have a valid Washington State driver's license?
- Do you have a high school diploma or GED equivalent?
- Do you have a school bus driver's certificate, or be willing to obtain one?
- Are you willing to submit a driving abstract from the Department of Licensing?
- Have you successfully completed, or are you willing to complete a school bus driver training program as established by the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and training programs and courses as offered by the district's Transportation Department?
- Do you certify the answers given herin are true and complete to the best of your knowledge?
- Are you willing to work as a relief or substitute driver in all areas of the District?
- How would you rate your driving record and defensive driving skills? (Poor, Fair, Good, Excellent)
- Explain any knowledge you have about driving large trucks, vans, or buses (previous experience is not required, the District is just trying to determine baseline knowledge for interested candidates).
- Driving a school bus often requires arriving at the bus depot in the early morning hours and later afternoons, sometimes with long breaks in between. Will this work for you?
