What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Care Coordinator position at Peninsula Surgery Center?
Job Responsibilities
- Greet and register patients upon arrival
- Review and update demographic information of existing patients
- Insurance verification, including scanning copies of insurance cards
- Continually monitor schedule for accurateness and communicate any changes to patients/offices
- Receive and distribute incoming mail
- Take patient payments as needed
- Maintain clean waiting area and working area
- Answer phone, screen calls, provide information and route to appropriate parties
- Assist patients, doctors, and other staff as needed
- Follow all policies and procedures including HIPAA
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 1-2 years experience as a receptionist; ambulatory surgery center preferred
- Strong ethical and moral character references
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner
- Ability to promote favorable facility image with physicians, patients, and general public
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems
- Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication in American English
- Electronic Medical Record experience; EPIC experience preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
