What are the responsibilities and job description for the Billing Specialist position at PENINSULA TRUCK LINES INC?
This position is a Part Time role for 4 hours per day M-F. Additional hours may be required as needed.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Perform nightly data entry of shipments moved each day into Peninsula Truck Lines system for accurate shipment handling and rating. Ensure all data needed to correctly move the shipment through PENS operational system, and evaluate it for proper billing. Assist co-workers and other Peninsula staff as needed to achieve excellence in every transaction and superior customer service.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Read and understand Peninsulas Mission, Vision and Guiding Principles. Perform duties accordingly at all times.
- Enter all needed shipper, consignee, shipment, material/commodity description(s), dimension, and interline and/or 3rd party carrier information from in-system scanned or paper documents into system accurately, consistent with PENS standard, and customer specific, requirements.
- Perform nightly billing entry at a minimum average of 42 bills/hour.
- Review error queue daily, understanding and learning from errors entered for correction.
- Review nightly Pick-up requests as provided, and compare shipper/receiver/billing terms against billing entry for consistency. Make changes as required for accuracy.
- Work each night as required until all bills of the day are entered, or night lead advises to go.
- Miscellaneous other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of LTL freight billing.
- Excellent data entry skills using 10-key/keyboard combination.
- Typing speed at 60 wpm.
- Ability to read, understand and interpret typed and hand-written information on multiple documents into meaningful guidance for operational handling and accounting/rating/billing purposes.
- A working knowledge of personal computers including mainframe operations and Windows-based software.
- Ability to work the minimum guaranteed 4 hours/night for the position according to contract, but also and routinely as many hours as it takes to ensure all billing is completed every night, including overtime beyond a full 8-hour shift. (Work start time may be any time between 3:30 5:00 p.m. with end time between 11:00pm and 1:30am or more.)
