Penmac is seeking Apprentice through Level III Welders in Washington Mo.
Days : Monday - Friday
Hours: 6am-230pm
Hourly starts at $18.39
Summary: Reading blueprints, setting up welding equipment, maintaining the work site clean, repairing parts of metal products, following detailed welding instructions. Main job requirements are welding expertise, being able to follow instructions, practical skills, dexterity, and attention to safety.
Description Of Work
JOB CONDITIONS: Working conditions can become somewhat disagreeable due to heat from radiation during welding and the wearing of heavy protective clothing during summer heat conditions. Some exposure to lost time accidents from flash burns to the eyes and burns from hot metal. Work is indoors, in a non-climate-controlled warehouse. Tractor trailer delivery doors are open from time to time, but minimal exposure to weather. Must follow established safety rules to prevent injury to yourself and others. Lifting could be up to 50 pounds; help and appropriate protective equipment is available. Continuous mental and visual attention are required for safety and to maintain tolerances.

Description Of Work
- Fits and welds fabricated metal parts to produce standard and/or special products.
- Has full understanding of welding procedures regarding electrode size, current, arc length and voltage, travel speed and electrode angle.
- Can set up and adjust welding equipment accordingly. Works with complicated engineering drawings.
- May attend seminars or other training to keep skills up to date
- May work in other areas from time to time as assigned
- Seeks out and implements continuous quality improvements
- Actively participates in LEAN activities such as PDCA, A-3, and Root Cause Analysis activities
- Demonstrates flexibility when asked to take on new things
- Prefer experience in MIG welding and machine setup for light gauge metals (16 gauge to ¼ “).
- Requires thorough knowledge of reading and understanding blueprints along with the ability to convert this knowledge to obtain an efficient product.
- Requires the use of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of decimals and fractions.
- Requires the use of standard measuring instruments normally required to set angles and dimensions within stated welding tolerances.
- Requires some judgment to comply with instructions, follow prescribed methods and make minor decisions as to setups, operations and processes.
- Experience in safely and efficiently operating a forklift and overhead crane is required.
