Penmac has an immediate opening for a Saw-Vacuum Form Operator.
This position is responsible for setting up and operating machine tools, such as vacuum boxes and friction saws, to cut or form metallic and non-metallic workpieces according to blueprint specifications. Duties may vary based on the assigned machine or task.
Pay: $15.50 to $17.50 per hour depending on Experience
Train on Days: Monday thru Thursday / 7am to 3:30pm
Friday / 7am to 2:30pm

Key Responsibilities:
Friction Saw Operation:
- Lay out parts by scribing net lines and cutting within .100 of specified lines.
- Review blueprints and fixtures to determine net areas of parts.
- Grind and deburr all parts to ensure safe handling in the next operation.
- Replace broken blades as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area according to 6S checklist standards.
- Set up and operate a vacuum press to form sheet metal into structural shapes.
- Load and unload parts and dies into the vacuum press.
- Monitor and operate the chart recorder to track time and temperature.
- Obtain quality approval on parts and chart records.
- Inspect own work and present the first part for quality inspection.
- Adjust the process for additional parts to ensure they stay within SPC (Statistical Process Control) limits.
- Collect SPC data as required by the control plan attached to the work order.
- Cross-trained in the Blast Department.
- Properly handle and manage hazardous waste generated in the work area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Proficiency in using measuring instruments, including calipers, protractors, tape measures, height gauges, and scales.
- Prior experience operating machinery is beneficial.
- Ability to read and understand internal procedures and policies.
- Strong comprehension and follow-through on verbal and written instructions.
- Team-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Basic computer skills, with the ability to learn new screens, reports, functions, and software programs with guidance.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Up to three years of related experience in a similar role, or a combination of education and experience.
- Strong mathematical skills, including proficiency in decimals, percentages, and fractions.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and Mylars.
- Basic computer proficiency to navigate software with assistance.
