LOCATION: Penn Brook Elementary School
SUPERVISOR: Principal
ANNUAL SALARY: Salary and benefits per Georgetown Education Association contract.
START DATE: start of the 2025/2026 School Year (August 2025)
WORK YEAR: 184 days, the school year & professional development days
JOB DESCRIPTION
The successful candidate will have a strong background and knowledge of students whose behavior, school progress, and overall mental health impacts their educational performance. The candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary team that determines effective interventions for students and advocates for social and emotional learning opportunities. There must be an ability to coordinate schedules and complete written reports within timelines. The School Adjustment Counselor will lead both individual and group sessions for students both in general and special education. The candidate will work with other specialists to develop and assist in implementing specialized instruction for students with disabilities across all aspects of their education. This person will serve as a liaison to outside service providers, while providing families with information and resources. Developing positive relationships with students and families is at the core of what will make the candidate successful in this position.
This individual will work under the general supervision of the director of student services, building principal, and/or another designated administrator.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with students to improve their social and emotional health in a public school.
Experience working with students having specific social and emotional disabilities.
Knowledge of best practices regarding elementary school education and the elementary school model.
Knowledge of Esped and IEP writing, preferred.
Professional understanding of individual student learning styles.
Ability to successfully collaborate with colleagues.
Ability to manage crisis situations in a public school setting.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are a must.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.
MADESE certification as a School Adjustment Counselor.
