LOCATION: Penn Brook Elementary School
SUPERVISOR: Classroom teacher and Building Principal
ANNUAL SALARY: Salary and benefits per Georgetown Education Association contract.
START DATE: as soon as possible
WORK YEAR: 184 days, the school year & professional development days
JOB DESCRIPTION
The instructional paraprofessionals provide direct service to students and assigned to specially designed educational programs and/or specific students that require a higher level of support.
Specific duties could include, but not limited to the following:
Works with assigned student(s) throughout the school day (including field trips) to implement goals, objectives, instruction, accommodations, and modifications of the individual education programs.
Delivers academic instruction designed by special education teacher/liaison and/or classroom teacher for all students.
Delivers scripted curriculum programs designed by special education teacher/liaison and/or classroom teacher.
Delivers assistive technology programming designed by special education teacher/liaison.
Demonstrated ability to meet student’s personal care needs. Depending on the student/students, the instructional paraprofessional may be required to handle or assist with duties that may include toileting, hygiene, community travel. No duties will be assigned without proper training for the instructional paraprofessional.
Prepares, collects, and understands analysis of student data for reporting purposes and adjusting instruction as determined by the special education teacher/liaison.
Implements with behavior, emotional and/or social skills support plan(s) and record anecdotal notes as directed by special education teacher and/or the classroom teacher.
Assists in collecting work, supervising exams, demonstrating learning strategies, organizational techniques, and other student learning duties as determined by special education teacher and classroom teacher(s).
Assists students with activities of daily living as determined by the student’s IEP. Toilet/hygiene training may be necessary.
Provides clear and regular verbal and/or written feedback to teachers.
Accurately interprets the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students and implements related intervention strategies appropriately including behavior plan, de-escalation techniques, and/or physical intervention as needed.
Assists students in performing daily/regular classroom activities and routines.
Communicates with other team members, as needed, to obtain necessary student information, and asks clarifying questions to ensure thorough understanding of instructional strategies for students.
Keeps work area, data books, materials organized for discrete trial training.
Files and sets up data/communication sheets for daily use.
Attends all professional development days, both full and half day, as determined by the special education teacher/liaison.
JOB REQUIRMENTS
Minimum Associates Degree, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Experiences working with children in general and students with disabilities preferred.
Demonstrated ability and willingness to be trained and apply: e.g. ABA, CPI, team lifting and transporting of (more than 50 lbs.),DTT, BIP, Health Plans, Data Collection or any other specific program required for the assigned position.
Demonstrated ability to establish positive & supportive relationships with students.
Demonstrated ability to maintain student management and safety in all school settings.
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student(s), family, and school information.
Demonstrated ability to provide academic instruction to students with educational disabilities and/or learning deficits.
SALARY & BENEFITS
Per agreement between the Georgetown School Committee and Georgetown Education Association.
Assignment to a position with specific classification. Movement from one classification to another classification within the district is at the discretion of the Building Principal and Director of Special Education

This position is eligible for the Town's health insurance, contractual sick days & personal days and tuition reimbursement.
EVALUTION
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in writing by the Principal and/or Special Education Coordinator with input from liaison and classroom teacher(s) as appropriate.
