Summary
Supervise Molding production activity satisfying all quality and quantity in accordance with Production Schedule standards in the most effective and economical manner possible to achieve prescribed production schedule at rate and quantity required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Implements the instructions of the Molding Production Manager regarding Quality, Safety and Productivity issues.
- Trains shift personnel on full scope of job functions and imparts relevant knowledge with ongoing, organized on-the-job and formalized training and documents results per established procedures.
- Prepares various production, maintenance, and employee incident reports.
- Follows all departmental procedures to ensure quality requirements are met.
- Communicates regularly with the Molding Production Manager on all issues relating to product quality and the production environment through the use of shift reports.
- Documents and reports nonconformances and defects; records and utilizes process data and statistics in accordance with written instructions.
- Performs required inspections, tests and audit and process capability studies as assigned.
- Adequately performs inspections with common measuring instruments and test equipment.
- Reads and interprets drawings and specifications.
- Ensures proper disposition and recording of rework or scrap generated as a part of the normal manufacturing process.
- Performs the duties of Production or set-up workers as needed.
- Provides a weekly reconciliation of actual vs. scheduled production with a fact-based explanation of significant deviations. Monitors and reports on machine utilization.
- Ensures documentation, organization and housekeeping tasks are performed as necessary or required.
- Meets production schedule within an acceptable level of quality and quantity and resource utilization and makes adjustments within accepted policies and procedures where necessary to improve performance on his/her shift. Makes recommendations to Molding Production Manager when changes to procedures are required.
- Works to continuously improve skills and capabilities in leadership and process improvement techniques. Effectively and actively participates in group problem solving and improvement activities.
- Ensures compliance with company policies.
- Ensures that the building is physically secure especially when the office is not occupied.
- May be required to work overtime as business conditions dictate.
- Performs other duties as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly Supervises employees in Molding. Carries out Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience
Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school with three years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret Quality, Safety, Maintenance and Operating procedures and mechanical drawings, etc. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to correctly perform calculations using basic mathematical skills.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to accurately define and prioritize problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Employee must maintain valid forklift driver's license.

Employee is required to follow all safety rules and procedures including, but not limited to, using required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). PPE for this position includes safety glasses, hearing protection and hard toed shoes. Work gloves (general cloth or nitrile chemical resistant gloves) must be used when necessary.
