What are the responsibilities and job description for the Externship Evaluator position at Penn Foster?
Position Summary:
The Adjunct Instructor – Externship Evaluator will be working closely with Veterinary Technician Students while they are performing their required clinical externships. They will assist in course instruction and student feedback in the Veterinary Technician Program as directed by the Clinical Coordinator and the department manager. The Externship Evaluator will provide one-on-on support to students. Some work with Veterinary Assistant externship students may also be required.
Essential Job Functions:
- Objectively and accurately evaluate externship (clinical) skills according to established grading rubric and guidelines
- Provide one – on –one support to their assigned externship students through distance education technologies, including but not limited to email and feedback files
- Provide clear and effective feedback to students within established time frames
- Respond to student’s questions in a timely manner
- Complete the necessary steps to ensure that grades are properly recorded with the school
- Provide regular updates to the Clinical Coordinator regarding student progress
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Must possess an Associate Degree from an AVMA accredited Veterinary Technician Program and must be a Credentialed (licensed/registered) Veterinary Technician (LVT, RVT, CVT). License must be current and in good standing with state licensing board and must be renewed yearly.
- Minimum of 2 years working as a Credentialed Veterinary Technician is required. Prior teaching experience preferred.
- Excellent computer and time management skills
- Experience with online learning preferred
- Excellent grasp of how technology can be applied to new methods of instruction
- Strong communicator and ability to work on/with a team of instructors
- Ability to think quickly, communicate effectively and efficiently, and enjoy being part of a team.
