Summary :
The Laboratory Scientist - performs tasks within a wide scope of laboratory functions in the area of high-complexity testing. This position is responsible for ensuring quality control, quality assurance, patient testing and overall quality of laboratory test results within the Toxicology Laboratory. In addition to patient sample testing, the Laboratory Scientist reports directly to both the Laboratory Manager and Laboratory Director. This position is responsible for ensuring that all tests are performed according to the established policies and procedures of the Toxicology laboratory to include; operation of computerized and automated instrumentation, quality control and maintenance, test result completion and distribution, specimen collection and stability, organization and inventory management. The Laboratory Scientist will be knowledgeable of the principles upon which laboratory testing is based and can recognize appropriate questionable and critical results. Organizational skills are required to maximize efficient workload and accuracy of patient test results. The Laboratory Scientist will be responsible for managing Toxicology Laboratory staff, continuing education, quality control, quality assurance, proficiency testing and patient test resulting and reporting.
Other information : QUALIFICATIONS :
- A doctoral degree from an accredited institution in one of the biological, chemical or physical sciences with at least 2 years' experience in LCMS testing
- A master's degree from an accredited institution with a major in Medical Technology or one of the biological, chemical or physical sciences with at least 4 years' experience in LCMS testing
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a major in Medical Technologist or one of the biological, chemical or physical sciences with at least 3-6 years' experience in LCMS testing
- ASCP accreditation preferred, but not required
