As the Ophthalmic Assistant, you would work in support of the Physician and assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of patient care in the office. You will be required to coordinate the care with other Penn Highlands services or outside health care providers. You will serve as a liaison between the physician, the mid-level provider and all other health care providers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant OR completion of a Clinical Medical -Assistant program required. LPN preferred. Five years Ophthalmic office experience (in lieu of education requirement) required
- Two years working in an Ophthalmology or Optometric office setting preferred
- Knowledge of human physiology and anatomy
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite required
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant(COA) required within two years of hire
- Knowledge of various ophthalmic equipment preferred
- Maintain Medical Assistant Certification or Practical Nurse licensure through state of Pennsylvania
