Job: Dining Coordinator

Shift: Full Time, 11am-7pm

Location: Penn Med Princeton-1 Plainsboro Road Plainsboro NJ. 08536

Summary:

• The Dining Coordinator will work in the call office and take dining orders, selections and special requests from patients
• The majority of meal selections will be taken via telephone, but may have direct face to face interaction with patients as well
• The Dining Coordinator will be printing meal tickets, various reports and ensure timely communication to food production team
• The Dining Coordinator will ensure compliance to ordered diets
• The Dining Coordinator will proactively communicate with Registered Dietitians and department management for problem resolution when needed
• The Dining Coordinator will provide an exceptional, caring and compassionate experience for patients and their families
  
  

Responsibilities:

• Exhibits a friendly and caring approach when answering or calling out on phone, taking patient menu selection, confirming patient requests, and discussing patient needs and tray delivery time with nursing or departmental team members.
• Follows proper telephone etiquette and procedures with patients, visitors and healthcare professionals
• Adheres to patient’s confidentiality and rights policy in compliance with HIPAA policies & procedures
• Complies with dietary restrictions on special, modified diets to ensure optimal food preferences are met within guidelines of diet order limitations
• Demonstrates a strong knowledge of the menu to be able to offer alternatives to menu as allowed on prescribed diet in accordance with food allergies and sensitivities, cultural, ethnic and religious preferences
  
  

Credentials:

• Preferred but not required:
• Dietetic Tchn, Registered
• Registered Diet Technician (DTR) from Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics -
  

Education or Equivalent Experience:

• Required:
• H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
• At least one year previous work experience working in food service
• Preferred but not required:
• Two to four years of experience working in food service
• Bachelor's or Associate Degree of Arts or Science in Nutrition or a similar field
