Summary:
- The Senior Process Engineer, PennDnA is responsible for leading and guiding multi-disciplinary teams in the development of processes and workflows of large-scale enterprise projects of a highly complex nature in order to assist the Information Services (I.S.) teams in identifying build requirements and supporting the operational teams with implementation of technology. This position requires being able to manage workflow/process design for multiple large scale enterprise projects and/or other projects and multiple project teams across one or more entities. Ongoing process engineer responsibilities include:
- Coordinating with operational departments and staff and assisting project teams in identifying and mitigating risks in relation
- Advocating on behalf of patients and I.S. users (customers) ensuring customer requirements are met, services rendered by
- Working with and reporting to Senior Leadership, as needed, during the project lifecycle.
- Performing job functions with a very high level of independence and functional team leadership.
- High-level expertise in clinical workflow; work with leadership to map out complex current and future state clinical workflows, including system integration and automation.
- Expertise in mapping out integrations between telephony and clinical/business systems.
- Manages workflow and process development for large scale enterprise projects of a highly complex nature for technology implementations.
- Facilitates operational team—administrative, financial, clinical, technical and vendor, discussions to identify current processes and/or develop future workflow design related to a technology implementation or technology-related project to best serve end users and patients.
- Work with and report to Senior Leadership, as needed. This may include, but is not limited to, preparation and presentation of workflow and complex operational design information to individual Senior Leaders and/or Governance Committees.
- Works with leadership and Functional Architects to walk a process, workflow, or project through critical review and/or discovery.
- Conducts workflow and process analysis including upstream and downstream system impacts and creates supporting documentation.
- Identifies opportunities with the process owner to improve process and incorporates improvements in future-state workflow.
- Assists with the identification of points where technology intersects with process and user requirements including data input opportunities to support the process or reporting needs.
- Creates visual representations of process flows with sufficient detail in a manner to support the technology implementation or project in order to identify build requirements and to support operational teams with the implementation of technology.
- Assists team in evaluating all of the appropriate process threads have been identified and defined, including the cross-team or cross-system transition points.
- Identifies risks and communicates to the project team and I.S. management as needed.
- Assesses the local stakeholder environment and builds the support and will to address opportunities among line staff, department managers, vice presidents, physicians, physician program leaders and department managers.
- Provides workflow development and supporting documentation status to Project Manager for team project status reporting.
- Conduct well-managed and efficient workflow development and process meetings. Accountabilities
- Assist leadership with software/hardware evaluations, department standards, goal setting and prioritization of work.
- Mentor other Process Engineer(s) as appropriate.
- Interfaces with leadership to provide process improvement wherever possible, always fostering positive working relationships and keeping customer satisfaction as primary goal.
- Provide performance metrics to leadership, upon request.
- Assists with internal PMO process improvements.
- Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures
- Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization
- Bachelor's degree. (Required) OR
- 4 years of relevant experience. (Required)
- 3 years of professional experience in business analytics, project management or healthcare operations. (Preferred)
- 2 years of experience facilitating teams and supporting user/team members with problem solving and developing/coordinating processes. (Preferred)
- 2 years of experience implementing technology in the healthcare field. (Preferred)
- Sophisticated experience in public and personal relations. (Preferred)
- Experience working with healthcare information technology or electronic medical records. (Preferred)
