Penn Medicine Princeton Health (PMPH) is seeking a per diem nursing assistant (NA) to work the day shift within the Surgical Care Unit. The SCU (Surgical Care Unit) is a 36 bed medical-surgical unit with a specialized focus on patients receiving inpatient surgical interventions. A portion of the unit, the Jim Craigie Center for Joint Replacement, is a dedicated use area for total hip and knee replacement patients. The Surgical Care Unit is certified as a Bariatric Center of Excellence and Joint Commission Advanced Hip and Knee Replacement Center.
Scheduling Requirements:
- You will be required to work at least 1 day shift per week (7am-7pm)
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assists nurses in the delivery of nursing care through participation in the nursing process.
- Some of the clinical skills performed on a daily basis consist of: safe patient ambulation, pain management, drain care, nasogastric tube care, foley catheter care, chest tubes, central lines, wound vac and wound care, complex medication administration, blood administration and constant communication with the interdisciplinary team.
- Performs and documents nursing care activities as assigned, consistent with established procedures.
- Makes observations of patient condition and reports and documents information as requested. Has good communication skills with patients/families and co-workers and is able to make suggestions regarding the patient's needs for nursing care.

Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIREMENT
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Nursing Assistant Course- Successful completion of hospital onsite course during first two weeks of orientation and prior to patient care assignment
