SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Oversee the technical management of the EPIC implementation and ongoing support. This includes coordinating with various IS services, managing EPIC security and domain infrastructures, and ensuring seamless device integration within the EPIC systems environment. Collaborate closely with application, IS, and operational teams to support project execution, application integration, and maintain system stability.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The percentage of time spent performing essential functions is 95%. Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Supervision: Directly lead a team of analysts during implementations and ongoing support under the direct supervision of systems application director.
  • EPIC System Security Management:
    • Oversee EPIC’s security infrastructure, including provisioning and access for EPIC roles and external entities. EMR Device Integration: Oversee the planning, execution, and management of projects involving medical devices integration with EMR systems.
    • Oversee the non-EPIC applications that support device integration.
    • Manage relationships with vendors, ensuring timely support, maintenance, and updates for integrated devices. Coordinate with IS teams, clinical engineering and clinical teams to implement system updates, upgrades, and patches related to device integrations.
  • EPIC Domain Management: Oversee coordination of production and non-production hardware and software support for Epic infrastructure including servers, network, storage, backup, operating systems, virtualization platforms, and desktop devices.
    • Monitor the health and performance of EPIC systems and environments, ensuring continuous performance improvements in collaboration with EPIC hosting.
    • Collaborate with IS teams and application teams to resolve EPIC related technical issues and maintain high system availability and provide strategic direction for improvements.
    • Ensure successful project management and delivery of EPIC system upgrades, enhancements, and maintenance.
    • Partner with application, technical, project, and leadership teams to document, develop, and test downtime and recovery processes.
Cyber Risk Assessments:
  • Oversee the completion of cyber risk assessments, documents, and network diagrams (initial and renewals) for supported applications.
  • Vendor Relationship: Lead vendor relationships to resolve vendor product issues, evaluate new functionality, and contract review. Participate in vendor user groups and online listservs, and review vendor updates to optimize the capabilities of assigned applications.
  • Resource Management: Prioritize and manage portfolio of work. Collaborate with the application teams to identify resources, prioritize projects, and resolve risks and issues.
  • Strategic Planning: Prepare and recommend short-term and long-term goals and objectives that align with the enterprise strategic vision. On-Call Duties: Participate in on-call support for one or more applications, addressing incidents that arise outside of business hours.
Staff Supervisory:

  • Human Relations: Responsible for candidate selection process, hiring onboarding, and offboarding of team members.
  • Coach: Observe and coach work behaviors and performance deficiencies of assigned staff for corrective actions and document as required following HR policy.
  • Team Development: Ensure cooperative and respectful work relationship of assigned staff following and embracing the organizational RITE values.
  • Evaluation: Responsible for the evaluation of employees' job performance and conformance to regulations and recommend appropriate personnel action.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 6 years experience or 10 years of IT and/or education experience required in lieu of degree.
  • Six (6) years of IT technical background with a general understanding of the technical EHR infrastructure.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a lead or supervisory role.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Experience leading a team supporting core technical functions essential to EMR operations, including security, data governance, domain management, and medical device integration.
  • Epic certification preferred. If not certified, must complete Epic certification as assigned in related application within 6 weeks after last training class.
