Pennant Solutions Group is hiring! As part of the Power & Energy Management team, the Power Solutions Manager will be responsible for overseeing the company’s capacity acquisition and utility procurement projects. Reporting directly to the Director of Power Solutions, this role focuses on utility development for new data centers in competitive markets, implementing alternative energy solutions, and ensuring reliable and sustainable energy sources to support the company’s growing infrastructure. The Power Solutions Manager will work closely with both internal teams and external partners to execute initiatives that align with the company’s operational, development, and environmental goals.

**This role is Hybrid (Tuesday/Wednesday in office and Mon/Thurs/Fri remote).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute comprehensive power capacity acquisition projects to meet the company’s immediate and long-term utility development requirements.

  • Develop and nurture strong relationships with utility providers to secure power capacity for upcoming data center projects and optimize energy cost structures.

  • Negotiate and manage power supply and capacity agreements, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and securing favorable terms.

  • Evaluate and implement distributed energy resources (DER), including low-carbon options, renewable energy, battery storage systems, and fuel cells, to guarantee a reliable and sustainable energy supply.

  • Monitor energy markets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, adjusting procurement strategies as needed.

  • Identify and implement energy efficiency initiatives in power design, consumption, and procurement to drive cost savings.

  • Develop strategies to mitigate risks associated with energy price fluctuations, capacity shortages, and regulatory changes.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Operations, Engineering, and Construction, to align power acquisition and energy projects with business objectives.

  • Oversee the reporting of power capacity and energy procurement activities, ensuring full regulatory compliance.

  • Promote behaviors that reflect the company's culture and Core Values.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to thrive in a hybrid work environment, including at least two onsite days per week.

  • Flexibility to travel up to 20%, with potential for additional travel or in-office presence as business needs evolve.

  • Deep understanding of energy markets, procurement strategies, regulatory environments, and utility provider relations, particularly for data centers.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret complex data, conduct cost-benefit analyses, and identify market trends, risks, and opportunities.

  • Proven negotiation skills with utility providers, energy suppliers, and other stakeholders.

  • In-depth knowledge of renewable energy sources, distributed energy solutions, and sustainability frameworks, including battery storage systems and fuel cells.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively.

  • Strong organizational and project management abilities, with experience managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.

  • Strategic thinker with expertise in developing energy strategies that align with company goals and sustainability objectives while managing risks.

  • Proficient in energy management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and data analysis tools.

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree or certifications such as CEM or CPM are preferred).

  • 5 years of experience in energy procurement and project management, with at least 3 years working with utility developers or data centers on alternative power solutions.

  • Experience in power utilities, energy markets, data centers, or telecommunications industries is highly preferred.

  • Proven leadership experience with a strong track record of mentoring junior team members and driving team success.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands of this position may require standing, walking, sitting, reaching, lifting up to 25 pounds, and occasionally climbing stairs or kneeling.
