Welding Instructor - Part Time
Nature and Scope of Job:
Instruct and facilitate meaningful learning in the course competencies in the curriculum and proactively support all facets of the learning environment. Provide career education through learner-centered instruction that will enable graduates to fulfill the evolving needs of the marketplace. Encourage a culture of learning that values mutual responsibility, life-long learning, diversity and ethics as well as personal and professional development.
Key Job Elements:
1. Maintain a teaching assignment each term.
2. Maintain a satisfactory working relationship with students, demonstrating sensitivity to the students’ needs and circumstances.
3. Plan course instruction based upon approved course syllabus/outline provided, to assure that course content and objectives are met. Distribute a copy of the course syllabus/calendar to all students at the first class meeting.
4. Cover all material in depth and scope as described in the syllabus.
5. Utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate the diverse learning styles of the students.
6. Design, administer and grade examinations to assess achievement of course objectives as identified in the syllabus.
7. Begin class at the designated time and provide a full period of instruction.
8. Actively work to maintain retention in all terms taught, by maintaining accurate attendance records daily, working with the Director of Student Services to call all students who are absent and recording absentee information in roster after each class meeting and communicating attendance concerns to the Director of Education and the Director of Student Services.
9. Assure that classroom and laboratory is left in a clean and orderly condition at the end of each class day. Maintain daily tool and equipment inventories for periodic reporting. Maintenance and replacement of tools and equipment as needed.
10. Enforce administrative campus policies.
11. Offer suggestions and recommendations regarding revisions to the curriculum to the Director of Education.
12. Be available to advise students, tutor and provide other assistance as needed.
13. Attend all monthly faculty meetings and Department meetings.
14. Stay current in your subject matter through professional development, through involvement in professional organizations and attending professional meetings, conferences and/or workshops.
15. Learn and use technology to enhance teaching and the educational experience when appropriate.
16. Submit accurate and competitive quotes when ordering consumables to be used for class starts and during a current term.
17. Substitute for other instructors within field or discipline in case of an absence.
18. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Education/School Director.
Position Requirements:
- Certified Welding Inspector
- MIG, TIG, Stick Welding Experience
- 5 Years of Experience
1. Must have a High School Graduate or its equivalent.
2. Demonstrate a command of theory and practice in the course(s) being taught.
3. Have a minimum of five years of related practical work experience in the course(s) being taught.
4. Superior communication skills in English, both written and oral, using proper grammar and vocabulary
5. Strong interpersonal skills.
6. Genuine interest in helping students.
7. Ability to act effectively as a member of a team.
8. Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the DOE or School Director may find appropriate and acceptable.

3. Your current field certifications of expertise as well as a valid state driver’s license.
