PennEngineering is seeking a motivated, excited, individual to be a part of Sherex Fastening Solutions Danboro. As the Quality Engineer at Sherex a PennEngineering Company, you’ll collaborate with teams that do truly amazing things.

The Heat Treat and Material Handler Operator position in a highly engineered, precision manufacturing environment. Responsible for the setup, operation and tending to more than one type of cold heading machine. This position is also responsible for contributing to the improvement of productivity, safety, quality, and the teamwork environment of Sherex.

What You Will Do

  • Adheres to Company Safety Policies and Programs such as Lock Out Tag Out(LOTO), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Incident/Injury Reporting and Hazard Communication and Labeling
  • Supports the Environmental Policy and Environmental Management System
  • Operate furnaces with guidance as needed from “A/B” operators or supervision
  • Utilizes hardness tester to verify product meets required hardness
  • Maintain the heat treat warehouse by preparing product going to outside vendors or next operations
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in department utilizing 6S
  • Perform daily department tasks such as cleaner titration, dew point readings, temperature verifications, check filter condition and clean, remove waste from part washer
  • Work with team members to achieve department, company goals and customer demand
  • Communicate production status and issues with other operators and supervision through face to face meetings and through email
  • Complete assigned maintenance tasks
  • Organize the department workflow based on the 9590 report
  • Safely moves product in an efficient manner to various locations throughout the plant utilizing an electric power jack, hand pallet jack or forklift.
  • Lifts containers from one skid to another.
  • Move raw materials include wire to machines under specific procedures and safely move material and wires to designated area using forklift or pallet jack
  • Reads router to ensure proper identification and delivery of product.
  • Read and follow directions from INCR report and work instructions.
  • Unwrap and break down skids to keep product flowing.
  • Collects skids, baskets and bins and delivers to required areas as needed.
  • Remove scraps from machines into scrap barrel
  • Participates in team meetings and works well with team members. Actively participates in continuous improvement activities including making suggestions to assist team in meeting goals related to quality, cost and delivery.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to monitor gauges, dials, or other indicators to be sure the machine is working properly.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, geometry and their
  • Possess the ability to read and interpret measuring equipment such as gauges, blueprints, micrometers, calipers, depth, and dimensional micrometers.
  • Must be self-directed and take initiative to learn new skills, make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Mechanically inclined and possess basic mechanical aptitude and skills.
  • Requires basic understanding of how machines operate.
  • Requires understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
  • Requires the ability to work within a production environment governed by a quality management system and understands the procedures relevant to producing parts within quality standards.
  • Requires the ability to work as an individual contributor as well as participate on terms as a constructive and productive team member.
  • Requires the understanding and compliance of environmental, health and safety regulations of the operation and organization.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs. from floor level to waist, and waist to floor continuously.
  • Must be able to stand approximately 8-12 hrs./day.
  • Must be able to work in an unair-conditioned, well-ventilated and/or air-conditioned shop environment.
  • Visual acuity for detailed work.
  • The employee must have arm-hand steadiness, manual dexterity, multi-limb coordination, and the ability to adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle quickly and repeatedly to exact positions. The employee must have strong near vision.
  • Able to bend, twist, and squat in sometimes awkward positions for prolonged periods of time while exerting force (pushing or pulling) on hand tools to adjust machine.
