- Cleaning residual aluminum from distribution pans, transfer nozzles, and mold assemblies.
- Painting distribution pans, filter bowls, and transfer troughs using a mixture of bone ash and water.
- Sanding and painting mold assemblies.
- Preheating and drying troughs, filter bowls, and distribution pans until they are ready for use.
- Aligning starter blocks and manually adjusting them as needed.
- Labeling logs and billets correctly.
- Moving cut logs and billets into appropriate storage areas.
- Loading and unloading logs into stacks prior to and after homogenization.
- Operating log saws to cut logs or billets into appropriate lengths.
- Operating homogenizing furnaces.
- Checking the sharpness of saw blades on a regular basis.
- Keeping records of materials received and used.
- Inspecting incoming materials and verifying invoices.
- Loading and unloading materials using forklifts.
