Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.
- Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, extrusions, or logs and transports load to designated area.
- Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device.
- Loads and unloads trucks as required.
- Empties trash containers as needed.
- Places empty baskets on wheels for saw crews.
- Empties scrap hoppers, separating alloy 6061 from 6063 as directed.
- Loads and unloads heat treat ovens and moves metal to next department or area.
- Follows proper procedures, starts Age Ovens selecting proper cycles. Completes documentation and charts as required.
- Monitors Age Cycles periodically to assure proper operation.
- Insures forklift is maintained in a safe working order. Reports defects or problems to shift supervisor. Completes preventive maintenance and corresponding paperwork as directed.
- Replaces propane bottle refueling forklift as required. Places empty bottle in proper storage area.
- Assists with maintaining a neat and orderly plant, insuring aisleways are kept clear. Performs general housekeeping duties as directed.
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Education And/or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and or one or more years' experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's
- Ability to perform these operations using units of American weight measurement, volume, and distance
- Must attend and pass Forklift Operators Safety course
- Must possess a valid Forklift License.
