Job Description:
Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking a Clinical Data Analyst for the Institute of Dementia.
The Clinical Data Analyst at the Institute of Dementia will play a crucial role in supporting dementia research by developing and maintaining clinical datasets. This position involves utilizing data management tools to assist staff and investigators in retrieving, managing, and creating datasets from primary data collection and publicly available sources. The analyst will perform basic data analysis to evaluate research initiatives, develop dashboards and reports to communicate findings, and ensure data integrity and accuracy. Additionally, the analyst will collaborate with research teams, conduct regular evaluations and audits of clinical data, and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and ethical standards. This entry-level role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to impactful research while developing valuable skills in data analysis and management.
Major Responsibilities
Assist in developing and maintaining clinical datasets related to dementia research, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
Utilize data management tools to help staff and investigators in retrieving, managing, and creating datasets from primary data collection and publicly available sources.
Support statistical consultation efforts by preparing data for analysis and assisting with basic statistical tasks.
Perform basic data analysis to evaluate research initiatives, using statistical software and methodologies under supervision.
Collaborate with research teams, including epidemiologists, biostatisticians, and clinical researchers, to support ongoing studies and projects.
Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate findings to researchers, clinicians, and stakeholders.
Conduct regular evaluations and audits of clinical data to ensure quality and compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and ethical standards in handling sensitive research data, maintaining confidentiality and security.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Biostatistics, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in database management/data analysis working SPSS, SAS, or other statistical software..
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data manipulation and analysis.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Meticulous attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
Effective time management skills to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in writing detailed reports and presenting data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
Note: Associate’s degree with 5 or more years of experience in database management/data analysis working SPSS, SAS, or other statistical software can be substituted for the required qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in database management/data analysis working SPSS, SAS, or other statistical software.
Experience with database management systems (e.g., SQL).
Familiarity with research methods and data collection techniques.
Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Flexibility to adapt to new tools, technologies, and methodologies.
A natural curiosity and eagerness to learn and explore new data sources and techniques.
