Position Overview:
We are seeking a Custodial Worker to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of offices, vacant dwelling units, and institutional buildings. The ideal candidate will perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and minor repairs to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all occupants.
Custodial Workers will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of our facilities, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for employees, visitors, and clients. Duties include routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing, as well as responding to occasional and minor maintenance needs. The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
What you get to do:
- Performs a variety of cleaning to ensure sanitary conditions are met.
- Cleans and sanitizes vacated units and common areas.
- Vacuums, scrubs, mops, waxes and polishes floors using vacuums, dry and wet mops, wax applicators and buffers.
- Dust and washes walls, woodwork and ceilings.
- Washes windows.
- Collects and removes refuse from offices and buildings to ensure cleanliness of the facility.
- Performs other duties as directed.
- Moves, arranges, and disposes of furniture and other items.
- Removes snow from entryways.
- Clean up grounds.
- Reports needed repairs to supervisor.
- Always maintain client confidentiality.
- Attend meetings, trainings and seminars as required.
What you need:
- Basic knowledge of cleaning supplies and cleaning chemicals.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work on ladders or in confined areas, and stand for long periods.
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.
- Ability to speak effectively one on one with employees and clients.
- Ability to deal with problems and apply common sense understanding.
- Valid South Dakota Driver’s License.
What you must consider:
- Incumbents use various chemicals to clean and sanitize floors and fixtures.
- Work on wet slippery floors.
- Must be comfortable working in a moderately noisy environment and with occasional heavy equipment.
