About the Job:
Pennoni is searching for a highly skilled Transportation Survey Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in field surveying operations and be proficient in the operation of total stations, data collectors, GPS systems, and robotic instruments.
Key Tasks:
- Develop and implement complex survey plans for bridge operations, including roadway layout, underground utilities, slope & elevation.
- Survey boundary, topographic, construction, and engineering land surveying projects.
- Stay up-to-date with modern survey methods, best practices, and technologies.
- Collect and analyze field survey data using conventional, robotic, Global Positioning System (GPS), aerial (e.g., drones), and other methods.
- Utilize surveying instruments, including prisms, total stations, GPS/electronic distance-measuring equipment, and auto-levels.
- Create detailed field notes and drawings for complex survey calculations.
- Provide training and guidance to survey crew members on surveying and mapping methods, use of equipment, and field safety procedures.
- Evaluate and improve the accuracy of field surveys.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant surveying training and active survey credentials.
- Experience working on Transportation and Land Development projects, particularly bridge projects.
- Experience in physically demanding field-based roles.
- Proven expertise with modern survey methods, best practices, and technologies.
- Proficiency with Leica Geosystems hardware and software, RTS (Robotic Total Stations), GPS, and Faro High-Definition Laser Scanning equipment.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills, as well as attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision and prioritize multiple assignments effectively.
