Overview:
The Material Handler plays a key role in warehouse operations by moving, handling, and storing materials. This position is responsible for tracking inventory, recording orders, and maintaining organization within the warehouse. Material Handlers frequently operate forklifts to load and unload inventory, supplies, wrap pallets, and other materials between storage areas, production lines, delivery trucks, and loading docks.
Duties Responsibilities:
- Label products and place them in designated storage areas.
- Locate and retrieve products for outgoing shipments.
- Maintain accurate records of stock and inventory levels.
- Conduct pre-operation checks on material handling equipment and report maintenance issues.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate purchasing needs for low-stock items.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve missing packages, incorrect deliveries, and damaged products.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- All other duties assigned as needed.
Required Skills Abilities:
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate and resolve issues.
- Proficiency in data entry and inventory management systems.
- Valid forklift certification and experience operating a forklift.
- Ability to operate additional warehouse machinery, such as a stretch wrapper.
- Basic math and computer skills for inventory tracking.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Education Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of six months of forklift experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment.
- Experience in inventory management, data entry, and record-keeping is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and operate a forklift for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
Work Environment:
- Primarily works on the manufacturing floor.
- Potential exposure to allergens, including milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, sesame, and soybeans.
