POSITION : Assistant Director of Operations - Full Time

COMPENSATION : $75,000 - $80,000
HOURS : Primarily 2nd shift - Occasional 3rd shift
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor's Degree preferred or 5 years of relevant custodial supervision.
- Knowledge of school operations, including safety and health regulations, Right-to-Know laws, integrated pest management, procedures for working with asbestos-containing materials in schools, and proper methods for handling and using cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Valid Pennsylvania driver's license and safe driving record.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and computer skills.
- Proven history of effective supervision and training for custodial operations.
- Working knowledge of building systems including fire alarm, burglar alarm, building automation systems and electronic work order systems.
- Must be courteous and able to deal effectively with people.
- Must be able to be both a team member as well as a team leader.
- Must be flexible and able to work in an environment with frequent interruptions.
- Able and willing to give and follow written and verbal directions.
- Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Able to motivate and train custodial personnel.
- Must be able to frequently lift and / or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 75 pounds.
- Any additional or alternative qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Board of School Directors.
REPORTS TO AND IS EVALUATED BY : Director of Operations
SUPERVISES AND EVALUATES : Facility Managers, Regular Custodians, Shift Supervisor Custodians, Substitute, and Part-Time Custodians.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS : Assist the Director of Operations in developing and implementing an innovative and efficient school district operations program. Ensure the program's effectiveness through continuous monitoring, training, and supervision of all facility managers and custodial employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Supervise all custodial functions, including procurement of supplies, equipment, and personnel, and establish custodial methods during 2nd and 3rd shifts.Evaluate alternate methods for efficient cleaning, Recommend procedural changes for implementation district wide.Develop standards for use of custodial supplies and equipment. Evaluate new products based on these standards.Determine custodial staffing needs through workload analysis and other accepted methods for establishing staffing requirements. Realign staff as necessary to accomplish goals.Coordinate the staffing of full-time, part-time and substitute positions, ensuring minimum downtime in finding suitable replacements when a position becomes vacant. Conduct job interviews recommending a candidate for an open position.Management of assigned staff which includes assigning and prioritizing tasks and projects, providing training, instruction, and support.Planning, coordination, and implementation of district-wide summer cleaning.Prepare formal evaluations of all facility managers and custodial staff with input from building principals. Meet and discuss individual evaluations with respective employees.Create, maintain, and continually develop a manual of Standard Operating Procedures for maintaining the cleanliness and healthy environment of all district buildings.Work with Facility Managers to implement standardized procedures through regular training of all regular custodial staff. Develop and present an induction program to all new employees.Ability to work a flexible shift to ensure effective supervision of 2nd and 3rd shift operations and personnel.Conduct periodic follow-up inspections to ensure satisfactory completion of work, providing guidance to staff as needed. This role requires rotating shifts to manage third-shift employees.Develop a training schedule and document periodic training on matters related to PA Right-To-Know laws, including asbestos, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), bloodborne pathogens, and other safety-related issues.Serve as the district's designated representative for Integrated Pest Management, ensuring compliance with program requirements, including necessary notifications to staff, students, and the public regarding the application of pest control products.Ensure compliance with state and county requirements for documentation and the daily maintenance of the high school's natatorium.Coordinate, assign, and track all work orders while assisting in maintaining the computerized work order system.Assist in planning and scheduling all maintenance and grounds activities performed by district personnel.Receive work requests, identify necessary maintenance and repairs, and help coordinate work schedules and supply needs to ensure completion of tasks according to priority.Collaborates with district personnel and appropriate contractors to assist in managing building controls and life safety systems, including fire, burglar, intrusion, surveillance cameras, building automation, and card access systems.Coordinate and oversee all snow removal activities performed by maintenance and custodial staff.Performs all other related duties as assigned and is available to respond to emergencies 24 / 7.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : Miscellaneous Employee as per Employment Agreement with Board of School Directors.
12 Month Work Year.
REQUIREMENTS : Act 168 Employment History Review / Questionnaire required.
Must possess current Act 34, Act 151, and Act 114 FBI clearances.
