About the Position
We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Operating Room team at Penn State Health Milton S Hershey Medical Center. As a perioperative care professional, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care for patients undergoing surgical procedures.
The operating room suites at our medical center feature state-of-the-art technology and consist of 35 operating rooms and 4 procedure rooms, where approximately 30,000 surgeries are performed annually. You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of surgical teams and cases, including general, vascular, neurosurgery, cardiothoracic, orthopedic, ENT, transplantation, gynecology, urology, plastic and reconstructive, and pediatric surgeries.
As a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room, you will serve as a patient advocate, utilizing critical thinking skills and practical experience to provide high-quality care to patients during their perioperative journey. Your responsibilities will include administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and collaborating with anesthesia professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Requirements for this role include a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment or a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact. AHA BLS certification is also required prior to the end of the orientation period. Preferred qualifications include 1-2 years of previous Operating Room RN experience, BSN degree, and CNOR certification.
