THE POSITION

If so, the Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a dependable Corrections Community Center (CCC) Monitor to provide care, custody, control, monitoring, and supervision for re-entrants at the at the Pittsburgh CCC. This is an opportunity to collaborate with other staff to facilitate and monitor the changes necessary for individuals to successfully complete the program for re-entry back into the community. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Corrections Community Center Monitor, you will be responsible for supporting the department's reentry initiatives, overseeing the security of the Pittsburgh CCC, and controlling all reentrant and visitor movement in the center at all times. Specific duties involve observing behavior through one-on-one and group interactions, as well as using closed-circuit television systems. You will maintain activity logs, document reentrant counts, and search property and living areas for contraband. This position requires effective communication and observation skills to adhere to bureau procedures and report security breaches or behavioral issues as they arise. In addition, you will conduct new reentrant orientation, administer breathalyzer and urinalysis tests, provide information to visitors, and participate in legal proceedings.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours/week.
- Community Corrections Centers are staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Work hours will be determined.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be willing and able to work in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
- This position requires shift work. You must be willing and able to work different shifts or irregular scheduled hours.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work. (Examples of qualifying experience include but are not limited to public safety or security work involving protection of persons and/or property and maintaining required security through enforcement of rules, regulations, and laws; public safety or security work in a correctional setting, juvenile, or adult development/detention center, law enforcement entity, or military security experience).
- One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals. (Examples of qualifying work experience include but are not limited to performing as a lead worker or supervisor assigning and evaluating work tasks, providing informal counseling, or giving orders in the Military).
