Job Title: Social Worker - Emergency Department Crisis Screener
Summary:
The Emergency Department Crisis Screener provides mental health crisis intervention, assessment, and disposition for patients presenting to the ED. This role involves collaborating with ED medical staff, external agencies, psychiatry, security, and law enforcement. The Crisis Screener conducts suicide risk assessments, gathers collateral information, utilizes the DSM-5 for diagnosis, develops psychosocial formulations, and coordinates disposition plans.
Responsibilities:
- Triage, assess, and determine disposition for patients in mental health crisis.
- Conduct emergency suicide risk assessments and gather collateral information.
- Utilize DSM-5 for diagnostic purposes and develop psychosocial formulations.
- Collaborate with the ED attending to create and document patient disposition plans.
- Coordinate with inpatient psychiatry for admissions and assist with insurance authorizations and safety plans.
Requirements:
- Master's in Social Work (Required)
- Minimum 2 years of psychiatric experience (Required)
- 1 year of experience administering crisis assessments (Required)
- Experience with pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients (Required)
- Previous ED experience (Strongly Preferred)
- BLS (AHA) Certification
- CPI Certification
- Massachusetts State License
